10/22/2009: "On the Needle"

I mentioned earlier in the fall that we are working on hat designs for finer gauge yarn. On the needle right now you can see the latest design NORAH. It has been given a feminine name, although in masculine colorways this design should be OK for guys as well. The construction is just like all our hats. You cast on with a cotton yarn and knit a wide non-itch lining. You can make this part as long or short as you like. The cotton will flare out a bit on the needle, but that is just the nature of the cotton. It will flatten out nicely when the lining has been sewn down. A purl row helps the lining curl under. After that you get to the fun part; the two-color knitting. The design should be up on our website within the next few days. NORAH is knitted in Daletta yarn. Color card found here.
