What's in The Goodie Bag

IMG_0962_1 (42k image)

Right now you’ll find one Bea Ellis hat or headband pattern, 2 balls of Hauk from Dale of Norway and one ball of cotton for a non-itch lining. Choose any one of our two-color hat or headband designs and two Hauk colors: gray 0007, charcoal 0083, goldenrod 2427, light sheep heather 2931, cherry red 4018, barn red 4137, marine blue 5364, navy 5563, electric blue 5646, soft blue 5942 and fern green 9155. Write your pattern and color choices in the comment box when you place the order, or leave it up to us. I’ll update the color list as we go along, as the Hauk yarn has been discontinued. The Hauk yarn is Teflon treated pure new wool. It is water and snow-repellent. You’ll find The Goodie Bag button on the home page.

Which one?

IMG_0957_1 (57k image)

So, which one is easier? I always get that question, especially from new knitters who want to learn two-color knitting. Both hats are great projects. The difference is in how you shape the top. In hat A you can knit the whole hat on circular needles, and you have some very simple decrease rows shaping the top. In hat B you eventually have to change to double pointed needles, and the last few rows are tricky as you have to knit with two colors and decrease at the same time. If you are a sock knitter, you can probably do this with your eyes closed or in your sleep. But if you have never worked with double pointed needles before, the last few rows can be a challenge. Our hats in category A include Telemark (shown), Frost, Saga, Traditional, Nordic and Reindeer. Designs in category B include Flenten (shown) Moose, Let it Snow, Kristen, the Skier, Ufserud, the Dog and the Horse. All found under KITS.

Lady bug!

IMG_0939_1 (57k image)

Look who is back. An old favorite. The Lady bug sweater. The colors have changed slightly, but if you still have the original baby wool colors in your stash, go ahead and use them. They are awesome. The new colors are kiwi, tomato red, lagoon, sunny yellow, turquoise, navy and lupine. Sizes 3-24 months. Found in the just released Dale baby book # 8102 Favorite Baby Designs 2.

Welcome to my blog. Here I will share my passion for knitting with you. You will find a little of everything; what I am working on, news about patterns and yarn, ideas and techniques, and other things that might interest you as a knitter. I hope to post often, but not every day. I will keep the comments option on for now, and will try and incorporate your questions or comments in new entries.
Happy knitting everyone!
