Setesdal Dress

Traditional designs for baby 208
It is way too early to think about Christmas, at least that is how I feel. Here is Southern New England the leaves on the trees are still green, and we still have warm days and plenty of daylight. However, this little red Setesdal dress from the latest Dale baby book caught my eye. It is the perfect Christmas dress for a little girl and great for Christmas parties or for your Christmas card. 4 sizes ranging from 6-36 months. Material: Dale baby Ull. The good news â€" no cutting required! Body and sleeves are knitted in around. The yoke is knitted in around as well. If you start now, you might be able to finish it in time for Christmas pictures! Dale accessory kits

Above is a photo of what you find in most of the Dale accessory kits. A zipper, elastic cord, cord stopper, and facing (in some of the kits, but not all). The facing is a piece of elastic fabric you attach to cover the raw cutting edges where the zipper has been sewn in. If you are not sure which zipper length to buy, the best thing is probably to wait until you have finished knitting. Before you cut open, measure the length of the zipper opening. If you end up with an odd number, order a zipper that is a tad shorter. As an example, if your measurement is 17 cm, order a zipper that is 16 cm long. It is better to gather than to stretch the garment out. Patches are not included with the kit. We have a limited supply available, and you can request a free patch with a $50.00 yarn order. For the decorative stitches on the cuff you can use any yarn from your stash. Common colors used are yellow, red and blue, but you can use any colors you like.

On the Inside

Have you ever wondered what our hats look like on the inside? When making our hats you start knitting with cotton yarn for a couple of inches. This creates a nice soft lining which makes the hat comfy to wear. After finishing the lining, you change to wool and purl one row. This creates a nice, crisp turning row which helps the cotton lining fall flat on the inside. From the photo you have probably notice the length of the carries. If they are too tight, your knitting will pull in and the stitches disappear. If your carries are too loose, the carries will look too loopy and the stitches will be too big. It is kind of like the fairy tail about Goldilocks. It has to be just right! Once you have found the perfect tension, try and stick with it through the whole project. If your goal is to make a fair-isle sweater, a hat is a great starting point. A nice small project for refining your skills. Our hat collection found here.

Discontinued Heilo colors

The new Heilo color card has arrived, and it will be posted on our website soon. We are saying goodbye to some all time favorite colors used widely in Dale designs. Such colors include off-white 0017, goldenrod 2427, barn red 4137 and tartan green 7562. The photo above shows all the discontinued colors: off white 0017 , goldenrod 2427, ochre 2434, mink 3081, burnt orange 3418, barn red 4137, cranberry 4227, antique rose 4232, peony 4516, ruby 4636, purple 5036, lavender 5224, electric blue 5646, tartan green 7562, lime 8817, dark olive 8972, fern green 9155, celery 9331, moss green 9335 and bronze 9834. Sisu patterns

As you know, Sisu is the Yarn of the Month for September. Sisu patterns are found in most of the Sandnes books. In Sandnes book 0210 you can find knitting patterns for traditional Norwegian costumes for kids age 2, 4, 6 and 8 years old. The outfit for girls include dress, cape and hat, and the outfit for boys include jackets, vest, pants, knee high socks and hat. More information about the book here.
