Heilo is the Yarn of the Month for October . Right now the price is $4.45 which is 20% off suggested retail. The new color card 2009 found here. The old color 2007 found here. We still have most of the discontinued colors in stock, but in short supply. The Heilo yarn is used in all the Ski Team designs, in the Dale 125th Anniversary collection and is also widely used in most Dale pattern books.

Right now you will find four balls of ARA yarn color 37387 Mango Punch from Dale of Norway plus a Bea Ellis pattern for The Skinny Scarf and matching headband. NORAH
I mentioned earlier in the fall that we are working on hat designs for finer gauge yarn. On the needle right now you can see the latest design NORAH. It has been given a feminine name, although in masculine colorways this design should be OK for guys as well. The construction is just like all our hats. You cast on with a cotton yarn and knit a wide non-itch lining. You can make this part as long or short as you like. The cotton will flare out a bit on the needle, but that is just the nature of the cotton. It will flatten out nicely when the lining has been sewn down. A purl row helps the lining curl under. After that you get to the fun part; the two-color knitting. The design should be up on our website within the next few days. NORAH is knitted in Daletta yarn. Color card found here.

Bea Ellis Knitwear
At Bea Ellis Knitwear we are busy cleaning up and making room for new books and yarns. With every new season there are changes and we are slowly removing discontinued items from our website as inventory gets low. And where does it all go? That is a good question. In the past we have donated supplies to good causes such as: Rainbow Socks in Bosnia, The Knitting Connection, Marshfield Recreation for their after school program and also sent finished knitted items to our troops overseas (collected by Marshfield Library). In addition we now have started posting items for sale on eBay. All yarns and books are new. As we go along we will post what we have left of Tiur, Stork, Flamingo and Hauk from Dale of Norway. We will post all that is left of Funny yarn from Sandnes. We also have quite a bit left of Muskat cotton and Silke Tweed from Garnstudio. In addition we will post lots of discontinued colors of Baby Ull, Freestyle, Heilo and Svale. Check on eBay often, as we will post new items weekly starting at very low prices. HERE IS WHAT THEY SAY:
For the first time ever, Dale of Norway is putting the power in YOUR hands. . . Literally. We are looking for the next big Knit design, in Baby, Adult or Accessories. All you need to do is get those needles flying!!!
Prizes:
There will be three Categories that you can enter your design into:
Baby Design: $1,500 retail value in Dale of Norway Yarn
Adult Design: $1,000 retail value in Dale of Norway Yarn
Accessories: $500 retail value in Dale of Norway Yarn
We will also award 10 runner-up prizes of $250 retail value.
Rules:
1. All entries must be submitted by Color Photo, stapled to a completed Entry Form, including Yarn Used and Description.
2. Designs MUST be KNIT up. We cannot accept any drawings.
3. Designs MUST be knit in Dale of Norway Yarn. However, it can be knit in any of our yarn qualities.
4. All Winning entries must submit a rough pattern, any graphs, and the actual garment for pictures and be able to answer any technical questions.
5. Enter as many times as you like!!
Deadline for all Entries is November 30th, 2009.
All Entries will be judged in December 2009, and winners will be announced in January 2010.

One ball Hauk 2931 light sheep heather, one ball Hauk 5943 soft blue and one ball Piper cotton for a non-itch lining. The following color substitutions are available: 0007 medium gray, 0083 charcoal gray, 2427 goldenrod, 4018 cherry red, 4137 barn red, 5563 navy, 5646 electric blue, and 9155 fern green . Dale of Norway book 204 just arrived. This is what Dale says about their new book. Dale of Norway is delighted to introduce this collection of bright, playful designs for active kids. Designed specially with pre-school age kids in mind, these patterns feature bold colors along with easy to knit garments and accessories. For the more experienced knitter, you will find a charming reindeer pullover and dress, along with a traditional pullover and dress in kid-friendly colors. Telemark.
Knitting a headband is a great introduction to two color knitting. It is a small project you that knits up quickly. Our headband kits include a pattern with detailed instructions, a chart easy to read, two balls of Peer Gynt in the colors of your choice and one ball of cotton yarn for a none-itch lining. Depending on how you knit, you might have enough yarn to make two headbands if you reverse the Peer Gynt colors on your second. You might run out of cotton the last couple of rows, but maybe you have some extra cotton in your stash you can use. Our headband kits found here (scroll down a bit). Peer Gynt colors found here.

Dale RETRO 207
Some like the green fairways and others like the white slopes, but this sweater is perfect for any out door activity. This tasteful classic design has been given a facelift, including resizing for a more modern fit. The pattern calls for Heilo, Falk or Lerke ( a merino cotton blend).
